The Bart Cummings-trained multiple Group One winner Saintly (Sky Chase) has died at the age of 24. A winner of the Australian Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) as a three-year-old, Saintly went on to be crowned Australian Horse Of The Year the following year having won the Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m), Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) and CF Orr Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m). Overall Saintly won ten of his 23 starts and was placed a 11 further times for earnings totalling $3,796,150. Bart's son Anthony announced the geldings death this morning Tweeting: "Saintly, the horse from heaven, has gone home. He gave us so much."
