Aqlaam sired his seventh stakes winner

New Stakes Winners

Aqlaam – The late stallion Aqlaam (Oasis Dream) sired his seventh stakes winner on Saturday as Alward (7 g ex Sharedah by Pivotal) took out the ATC Cup (Listed, 2000m) at Rosehill. Alward joins the likes of Full Rose, Fashion Queen and Dancing Star as stakes winners for his sire. Aqlaam stood at Shadwell’s Nunnery Stud in England before sadly passing away at just eight years of age. 

 

Charm Spirit – Scorpz (3 c ex Forbetterforworse by Dubawi) became the fifth stakes winner for his Windsor Park Stud-based sire Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit) in the Lucia Valentina Wellington Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) on Friday. Charm Spirit is also the sire of southern hemisphere-bred Group 2 winners Aretha and Fascino as well as European Group 3 winners Kick On and Yourtimeisnow. Charm Spirit stands for NZ$18,000 (plus GST). 

 

Dansili – Pensioned stallion Dansili (Danehill) sired his 141st stakes winner on Wednesday as Glance (3 f ex Look So by Efisio) took out the Petite Etoile Stakes (Listed, 1900m) at Deauville. Dansili was retired from stud duties in April 2018. 

 

I Am Invincible – Australia’s most expensive stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) can ‘raise the bat’ after his daughter Evalina (4 m ex Tahnee Topaz by Lonhro) justified her owner’s decision to send her to New Zealand by becoming her sire’s 50th individual stakes winner. Evalina was purchased by agent Bruce Perry for $280,000 from the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Milburn Creek draft for prominent owner Lib Petagna. The Yarraman Park Stud-based I Am Invincible, who stands for $247,500 (inc GST) this year, is also the sire of nine Group 1 winners including Loving Gaby, who won the Manikato Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) earlier this season in Melbourne.

 

Jimmy Choux – Progressive three-year-old Two Illicit (3 f ex Gemini by Tale Of The Cat) has continued the successful spring for owner-breeders Brent and Cherry Taylor of Trelawney Stud after the filly landed the Trevor Eagle Memorial (Listed, 1500m) at Ellerslie on Saturday. Trained by Roger James and Robert Wellwood, Two Illicit became the third stakes winner for her sire Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park). Best-known as the sire of dual Group 1-winner Bostonian, Jimmy Choux was relocated from Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand to Rosalee Park Stud in Western Australia this year. 

 

Master Of Design – Victoria-based stallion Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) sired his maiden stakes winner courtesy of the consistent Peter McKay-trained gelding The Mitigator (5 g ex Charming Ruby by Rubiton) who took out the Eagle Technology Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at Ellerslie on Saturday. The Mitigator was purchased by Trent Busuttin for $75,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Amarina Farm draft. Master Of Design, who started his stud career at Swettenham Stud, now resides at fellow Victorian farm Greta West Stud for a fee of $3,300 (inc GST). 

 

Rothesay – Lyndhurst Stud stallion Rothesay (Fastnet Rock) sired his fourth stakes-winner on Saturday when Chapter And Verse (5 g ex McFly by Perugino) took out the George Moore Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) at Doomben. Chapter And Verse joins Havasay, In His Stride and Too Good To Refuse as stakes winners for his sire. Rothesay stood at Lyndhurst Stud in Queensland for a fee of $4,950 in 2019. 

 

Sea The Stars – British raider Dalgarno (6 g ex Jakonda by Kingmambo) provided his sire Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) with a 60th individual stakes winner with a surprise success in the Prix Lyhard (Listed, 1900m) at Deauville on Thursday. Sea The Stars stands at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud with his 2020 fee recently set at 150,000.  

 

Smart Missile – The Vaughn Sigley-trained Missile Launch (6 g ex Takeiteasyedye by Opening Verse) became the 16th individual stakes-winner for Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) when winning the Magic MIllions Tattersall’s Cup (Listed, 2100m) at Ascot on Saturday. Missile Launch was purchased by Sigley at the Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $40,000 from the Yarradale Stud draft and has now amassed $365,850 in prize-money from 24 starts. Smart Missile stands at Twin Hills Stud in New South Wales for a fee of $22,000. 

 

Snitzel – Champion Arrowfield Stud stallion Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) sired his 93rd stakes winner on Saturday as Spending To Win (6 g ex Madame Trop Vite by Invincible Spirit) took out the Starlight Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill. Spending To Win was a $300,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase by Snowden Racing. 

Spirit Of Boom – Sugar Boom’s (3 f ex Acupuncture by Pins) victory in the Mode Plate (Listed, 1200m) at Doomben on Saturday brought up the tenth individual stakes winner for her up-and-coming sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo). Standing at Eureka Stud in Queensland for a fee of $44,000, Spirit Of Boom’s other stakes winners include Outback Barbie, Boomsara and Champagne Boom.
