Final exercise completed before departure to Melbourne

Lydia Symonds | 27.09.2018

It was a relatively quiet day in Newmarket quarantine on Wednesday as horses exercised for the final time before exiting the facility on Thursday afternoon.

Godolphin’s Prize Money (Authorized) was the only horse to venture away from either Side Hill or Warren Hill as he was put through his paces for the final time on the Limekilns, while French raider Marathon Man (So You Think) was the only horse to complete fast work on Side Hill.

This follows on from a busy day yesterday in which Prince Of Arran (Shirocco) and Red Verdon (Lemon Drop Kid) worked on the Al Bahathri gallop, while Saeed Bin Suroor’s other Spring Carnival contenders, Benbatl (Dubawi) and Best Solution (Kodiac), completed their final preparations this side of the water on the Limekilns.

The 18-strong contingent will all leave Newmarket this afternoon before flying later tonight, while the second wave of Melbourne-bound horses, including one of the market principles for the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in last start Group 3 winner Magic Circle (Makfi), will enter quarantine this evening.

The full list of horses entering the second batch of quarantine in Newmarket will be published in tomorrow’s edition of ANZ Bloodtsock News.
