Percy Sykes winner Paris Dior a dazzling late addition to Magic Millions sale

Explosive juvenile Paris Dior (Pierro) has been added to the supplementary catalogue for the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

The Group 2-winning juvenile, who is rising four, is one of 11 new stakes performers among 28 additional supplementary entries for the Gold Coast sale, while four foals have also been added to Magic Millions’ National Weanling Sale.

Bred and raced by Steve Wilde and Bill Hilton and trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Paris Dior won at Canterbury in January of her two-year-old season, finished runner-up in the $2 million Inglis Millennium (RL, 1100m) and rounded out her juvenile career with a victory in the Percy Sykes Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m).

She raced just nine times, earning $1.276 million before the Snowdens recommended her retirement after being injured when racing at Moonee Valley in March.

“She was desperately unlucky at her first run when she was charging home. And then her next run she put them to the sword for an easy win,” Wilde said.

“That day James McDonald got off her and said she was a serious filly and he wanted to keep the ride.

“She then ran second in the Millennium after copping a few checks and finishing off strongly before she won the Percy Sykes Stakes in great style on track conditions she didn’t like.”

Paris Dior will be offered through the Yarraman Park Stud draft while Newhaven Park will consign Xtravagant Star (Xtravagant), who downed the daughter of Pierro (Lonhro) in the Inglis Millennium, as a supplementary entry.

“Right from the start with the breakers and as soon as she joined the Snowdens she showed she was a special filly,” Wilde said of Paris Dior.

“Obviously the stable had a great bunch of juveniles and Peter and Paul both rated her very highly.”

The first foal out of five-time winner Entrancing (Exceed And Excel), Paris Dior’s year younger sister Queen Of Dragons was runner-up to subsequent dual Group 1-winning colt Militarize (Dundeel) at Canterbury on February 1 and she is slated to resume at Scone on Saturday in the Woodlands Stakes (Listed, 1100m).

Entrancing has a Lonhro (Octagonal) yearling colt, who was purchased by the Snowdens and agent Will Johnson for $250,000 from the Inglis Easter Sale this year, a Graff (Star Witness) weanling colt and she is back in foal to Pierro.

Also in the supplementary catalogue is Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (Gr 2, 1600m) winner Zoe’s Promise (Swear) – her dam Kinz Funky Monkey (Green Monkey) is also in the broodmare catalogue in foal to Street Boss (Street Cry) – while Amity Gal (Shamus Award), the sister to three-time Group 1 winner Duais, is also a late entry.

Stakes-winning two-year-old Exo Lady (Exosphere), Group 2 winner Dragon Queen (Sweynesse) and Welcome Stakes (Listed, 1000m) winner Grace’s Secret (Vadamos) have also been sent across the Tasman to go under the hammer.

The additions to the weanling sale are colts by Frankel (Galileo) and Prague (Redoute’s Choice) and fillies by Anders (Not A Single Doubt) and Deep Field (Northern Meteor).

Supplementary entries for the National Weanling and Broodmare Sales close on Friday.
