Big Sky’s three-quarter sister tops Magic Millions Digital Sale
Podcast (Microphone), a three-quarter sister to the current favourite for Saturday week’s Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), topped the Magic Millions Digital Sale that concluded on Wednesday.
A dual winning four-year-old daughter of Microphone (Exceed And Excel), Podcast was purchased by Hong Kong-based Hall of Fame Bloodstock for $85,000.
The Newington Farm-offered mare is a three-quarter sister to Big Sky (Bivouac) who is unbeaten in two runs for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr stable and is the $4 favourite for the Blue Diamond.
Podcast and Big Sky’s dam Zoom By (Red Dazzler), a four-time winner, is herself a half-sister to Firenza (Kenny’s Best Pal) and Beauty World (Danehill Dancer) – the dam of stakes winners Hi World (High Chaparral), Lite’n In My Veins (Henrythenavigator), Written Beauty (Written Tycoon), Ducimus (Snitzel) and Loveyamadly (Bel Esprit).
“Our team is ecstatic with the result,” Julian Blaxland, representing vendor Newington Farm, said. “From the moment we entered her in the sale, the Magic Millions Digital team worked hard and marketed her so well to try and maximise our return.”
There was spirited bidding across a number of lots with Western Australian trainer Ryan Hill pleased with his returns including the 26-bid result for Marines Cry (Long Leaf), who sold for $13,000.
“We’re very happy with the results,” Hill said. “She is a good filly but her sale price exceeded our expectations.”
Entries for the next Magic Millions Digital (February 27 to March 4) Sale open on Thursday and close on February 25. To lodge an entry click here.
