Blue Gum Farm announce three-strong roster
Blue Gum Farm has announced its 2025 stallion roster and service fees, headlined by Sejardan (Sebring) who will stand at an unchanged fee of $13,750 (all fees inc GST).
On the back of strong first and second seasons at stud where he covered more mares than any other first-season sire in Victoria, Sejardan’s first crop of weanlings have been well received in the sales ring where they have averaged $64,900 from ten sold with his top lot a colt out of Statuette (Redoute’s Choice) realising $130,000 at the Magic Millions Weanling Sale last Sunday.
Sejardan was an undefeated pre-Christmas juvenile on the track, taking out the Breeders Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) on debut, the $1 million Golden Gift (1100m) at his second start, and the Todman Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) in the autumn.
“Sejardan is doing everything right,” Blue Gum Farm co-owner and principal, Sean Dingwall, said. “The consistency and quality of his foals is exactly what we want to see, and this has been evident in the sales results of his first crop of weanlings.
“He’s a stallion with a bright future and a gentleman in the breeding barn with excellent fertility, significantly upgrading mares and representing tremendous value at this price point.”
Also on the roster is Flying Artie (Artie Schiller), winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and with progeny earnings of over $20 million. He will stand at a reduced fee of $11,000.
A son of Artie Schiller (El Prado), he is the sire of global sprint stars Artorius, winner of the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and Canterbury Stakes (Gr 1, 1300m), and Asfoora, last year’s King’s Stand Stakes (Gr 1, 5f) heroine at Royal Ascot.
Completing the roster is Oxley Road, a Group 2 and Group 3-winning sprinter by Exceed And Excel (Danehill) who will stand at $6,600.
Blue Gum Farm has also announced that Phil Marshall is joining the team as nominations and sales manager.
With years of experience in the international and domestic markets, English-born Marshall has spent the last two decades at Eliza Park, then Sun Stud and most recently, Widden Stud Victoria.
“Joining Blue Gum Farm is a tremendous opportunity,” Marshall said. “Blue Gum Farm has an incredible history here in Victoria and is indeed renowned both locally and globally for the quality that comes off the property.
“Blue Gum has an exciting lineup of stallions for the spring ahead, offering a great range for breeders of all stripes.”
Dingwall added: “The owners of Blue Gum Farm are delighted to have Phil joining us. Phil is an established professional with a high profile in the Victorian bloodstock industry and will provide a great addition to our team.”
