The Clayton Douglas-trained Dragon Scroll (Zoustar) claimed her maiden victory on Thursday when capturing a 1000-metre contest at Gosford.
Making what was her second start on the track following a debut seventh at Moe, the filly was ridden by Rachel King and defeated Redzero (Red Henno) by 0.3 lengths.
There was a further 4.1 lengths back to Sammy The Bull (Heroic Valour) in third place.
A $950,000 purchase from Widden Stud by Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Dragon Scroll runs in the familiar colours of Jonathan Munz’s Pinecliff Racing – who also race Group 1 winner Giga Kick (Scissor Kick) with Douglas.
She is a half-sister to the stakes-placed million-dollar earner Spywire (Trapeze Artist), being the fourth winner from as many foals to race out of the stakes-winning Denman (Lonhro) mare Secret Trail.
Widden Stud sold a yearling colt, the highest-priced yearling out of Anamoe’s (Street Boss) first crop, from Secret Trail at Magic Millions this year to Ciaron Maher for $1.1 million.
Secret Trail had no foal last year, but is now in foal to champion sire Zoustar (Northern Meteor).
