Inglis release a sneak peak of the Chairman’s entries
Mumbai Muse (Zoustar) and Dancing Alone (I Am Invincible) feature among the early entries made for this year’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale, where a select catalogue of the best race fillies and breeding stock will again be offered for sale.
Trained by Michael Freedman and raced by a syndicate including Woppitt Bloodstock, Robert McClure, Kia Ora Stud and Craig Pickford, Mumbai Muse is a winner of the Red Roses Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) and Brian Crowley Stakes (Listed, 1200m).
A $525,000 Inglis Easter yearling sale graduate, the four-year-old is a sibling to three black type performers and hails from a quality international family that includes leading US sire Speightstown (Gone West).
“As a yearling she was just such a great type, very typical of the Zoustars, a beautiful athletic filly who developed into a strong and talented race filly and mare,’’ Freedman said.
“She was a Group 1-standard mare, I have no doubt about that, we just never saw the best of her for differing reasons but I’m sure she’ll develop into a beautiful broodmare, she has all the right attributes to do so.’’
Dancing Alone’s trainer Bryce Heys described the mare, who won six of her ten starts, as “a dream prospect’’.
“Physically she’s as good as you’ll ever get, she really typifies an Easter yearling and on top of that and most importantly she delivered on the track in terms of her ability and winning races,’’ Heys said.
“She was a pleasure to have around the stables. She was super competitive on the track but outside of that was just an absolute darling of a filly, they don’t come with a nicer demeanour than she possesses.
“That’s the perfect combination and what the market is looking for – physically perfect, competitive and talented but with a kind nature. I have no doubt in my mind she’ll leave a gorgeous foal, she hasn’t been taxed on the racetrack, she’s what everyone wants.’’
On Wednesday, Inglis announced the brother to Group 2 winner Too Darn Lizzie (Too Darn Hot) will be offered at the Inglis Weanling Sale and their dam, the Group 2-winning juvenile Enbihaar (Magnus), is among the early entries committed to the Chairman’s Sale.
This year’s format will mirror that of recent years, a late afternoon start at Riverside on May 8. Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said: “It’s a special night – one that people really enjoy – and ultimately it’s become a celebration of the careers of some of the best race fillies and mares of recent past.
“The market has willingly embraced the format and we’ve been able to develop it progressively year after year into a sale that people feel they must be involved in.
“We are fielding a huge amount of interest in the sale and are working strategically to consolidate a catalogue that will have anyone and everyone very excited.”
A day after the Chairman’s Sale the Inglis Broodmare Sales Series continues with the Australian Broodmare Sale, again at Riverside, on May 9.
