The Simon Miller-trained Live To Tell (Territories) marked herself down as a filly to follow when comfortably winning Saturday’s Supremacy Stakes (Listed, 1000m) at Ascot.
Having been sent off as an odds-on favourite for a maiden over the same track and trip on debut in October, the two-year-old was denied by just a head by Brave Halo (Brave Smash), a subsequent dual scorer and also finished fourth in both the Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) (Gr 3, 1100m) and Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) itself.
Providing her trainer with an eighth winner from the previous 12 runnings of last weekend’s Listed event, the filly was ridden by Patrick Carbery and flew down the outside of her rivals in the home straight to score by one and a half lengths over Platinum Shot (Shooting To Win), with the same distance further back to More Special (Safeguard) in third place.
A $100,000 buy for Miller out of the Fernrigg Farm draft at the 2021 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, Live To Tell is the first foal out of the placed mare Pellicle (Sepoy).
In winning the Supremacy Stakes, Live To Tell became the ninth individual stakes winner for her sire Territories (Invincible Spirit). The stallion stands the 2023 breeding season at Dalham Hall Stud for a fee of £10,000 (approx. AU$18,185).
