The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Reachin’ Out (Stay Inside) created a favourable impression at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday when landing an 1100-metre contest on her debut.

The juvenile daughter of Stay Inside (Extreme Choice) had taken in two trials prior to her first competitive appearance, running third over 740 metres at Randwick before returning to the track for a trial win over 736 metres.

Ridden by Regan Bayliss on Wednesday, Reachin’ Out scored by 3.9 lengths over She’s Extra (Exceedance) with a further 1.7 lengths back to Victorious Ruler (Wild Ruler) in third.

“Gee, that was impressive. Yeah, my word,” stable representative Neil Paine said. “Regan rated her well in front, and then, once he let her go at the top of the straight, gee, she put it beyond doubt.

“That was a really impressive win. Did you guys expect a performance like that?

“Look, we knew she went well, but she was first-up today and her trials have been nice. And look… On the Kensington track, our horses race really well on the Kensington track and we knew Regan was going to lead, and our other horse was just going to sit behind, because Victoria’s Rule is probably just looking for a bit further.

“So did we expect it…I’m gonna say yes.”

Reachin’ Out was purchased for $400,000 by her trainers and Kestrel Thoroughbreds from the Element Hill Unreserved Dispersal at the 2024 Magic Millions National Weanling sale draft.

She is one of five winners from six to race out of the imported Elnadim (Danzig) mare Pasar Silbano and a half-sister to the Widden Stud-based sire Zousain (Zoustar).
