Subtitle to Jacquinot after Inglis Digital buy
Subtitle (Fastnet Rock) was the headline act of yesterday’s Inglis Digital May (Late) Sale when she was knocked down to Castle Bloodstock for $225,000.
Offered by Coolmore, Subtitle was purchased on behalf of Lindsay Maxsted, who is a part-owner in Group 1 winner Jacquinot (Rubick), and she will be sent to the new Widden Stud-based stallion this coming breeding season.
Subtitle’s four winners are headed by dual Group 3 winner Rock (Pierro), while she is also the dam of Listed-placed Femme Fireball (Pierro) and she was offered in foal to Coolmore’s dual Group 1-winning stallion Home Affairs (I Am Invincible).
“I’ve stayed in the ownership and wanted a high-quality mare to send to him first up and I think Subtitle is exactly that mare,’’ said Maxsted.
“She’s been a great producer already, with Rock a Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed and Femme Fireball a Stakes horse too so I’m confident she will continue to produce the right type of horse with a Jacquinot mating.’’
Maxsted said the fact the mare was offered in foal to Home Affairs made her a very attractive prospect.
“I love Home Affairs, I think he’s going to be a standout stallion so to have one of his first foals coming in the next few months is very exciting,’’ he said.
El Padrino (Street Boss), yesterday’s second-top lot, is headed to the Michael Clements yard in Singapore after Bevan Smith went to $150,000 to secure stakes-placed winner, while the sale’s third-top lot was the Hudson Conway-offered Sir Lamorak (Camelot) and he was purchased by Gold Coast trainer Adam Campton for $135,000.
Subtitle, El Padrino and Sir Lamorak were three of seven horses to realise $100,000 or more during the sale, which concluded with a gross of $2,537,800.
Entries are now open for the June (Early) Sale, which will run from June 2-7, and will close at midnight next Wednesday, May 31. Click here to enter.
