2020 Inglis Preview Magazine released

The two-day Easter sale, to be held on April 7 and 8, features a mouth-watering number of blueblood yearlings including relations to The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice), Sunlight (Zoustar), Loving Gaby (I Am Invincible), More Joyous (More Than Ready), Aethero (Sebring), Kenedna (Not A Single Doubt), Unforgotten (Fastnet Rock) and Lucia Valentina (Savabeel).

“Easter has traditionally been showcased as the ‘best of the best’ and on the evidence of the make-up of the catalogue at this stage for 2020 that is very much the case,” Hutch said.

“The focus right from the beginning of putting together our 2020 sale catalogues has been to try and put together a diverse book both in terms of stallions and vendors.

“We thought it was an appropriate time to give people a little appetiser of what we expect to have on offer at the Easter sale.

“The pedigrees alone are incredible, but the physiques and conformation of the horses that we are going to have in the book across the board is going to be exceptional,”

A Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) three-quarter brother to The Autumn Sun, an Exceed And Excel (Danehill) brother to Golden Slipper (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Overreach and this season’s ATC Heritage Stakes (Listed, 1100m) winner Standout are among the early Easter highlights, while a sister to Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) Catchy (Fastnet Rock) is also set for the sale.

A So You Think (High Chaparral) half-brother to rising Hong Kong star Aethero and Group 2-winning sprinter Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt) is also in line for Riverside while an I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) colt out of Miss Atom Bomb (Encosta De Lago), herself a half-sister to Winx (Street Cry), is expected to go through the ring.

A Written Tycoon (Iglesia) half-sister to Heatherly (Lonhro) and a half-sister to Starspangledbanner (Choisir) by the same Woodside Park Stud-based sire is slated for Easter,

A last-crop daughter of Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) who is out of a stakes-winning half-sister in Arcadia Rose (Kheleyf) to Group 1 winner Arcadia Queen (Pierro) and Saturday’s Railway Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Regal Power (Pierro) will be prepared for the April auction and Pierro (Lonhro) himself will be represented by half-brother to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun (Mossman) will be catalogued.

The first foal out of champion sprinter First Seal (Fastnet Rock), a filly by Snitzel, will also be auctioned as will the brother to Golden Slipper winner and $1.7 million Easter graduate Estijaab (Snitzel).  .

Arrowfield Stud, the leading vendor at Easter this year, will offer a colt by its shuttle sire Shalaa (Invincible Spirit) out of champion mare Miss Finland (Redoute’s Choice) who has already produced Group 1 winner Stay With Me (Street Cry) and two other stakes performers in Earth Angel (Animal Kingdom) and Woodbine (Hussonet).

Another first crop stallion to shuttle to Australia amidst much fanfare is US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) who has a half-sister to this month’s Sandown Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m) winner Pretty Brazen (Brazen Beau) heading to the Inglis sale.

Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner Astern (Medaglia d’Oro) was given a good start at stud by covering the stakes-placed Bernie Howlett-owned mare Sansadee (Snaadee) who is the dam of champion colt and emerging sire Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible).

The resulting colt heads to Easter after his younger half-brother by I Am Invincible made $480,000 at this year’s sale.

Zoustar’s (Northern Meteor) flagbearer has been dual Group 1 winner Sunlight and her yearling brother heads to Easter.

The Widden Stud and Dan Fletcher-bred colt also received a pedigree boost when his three-year-old sister Sisstar won the VRC Red Roses Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) during the Flemington spring carnival,

Hutch said no decision had been made about whether next year’s Easter sale catalogue would be increased on this year’s 450-lot offering.

“We are conscious of putting together a catalogue to run a good sale. There have been 12 Group 1 winners out of Easter since 2016 sold for $200,000 or less,” he said.

“Horses like Aristia, Land Of Plenty and Funstar who were all sold for extraordinarily good value prices in hindsight. The clearance rate in 2019 was very positive and there was a great feel to the sale.

“Buyers across the board are recognising the opportunities that can exist at Easter.”
