Treble for Headwater – The late season form of Vinery Stud’s first season sire Headwater (Exceed And Excel) continued when he sired his eighth, ninth and tenth winners. Winner number eight came when Gunnamatta (2 c ex Umaquest by Umatilla) built on his promising debut second by taking out an 1150-metre maiden at Randwick on Wednesday. Gunnamatta was purchased by Mitchell Bloodstock/McEnnis Racing for $80,000 at the 2019 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale after he had been pinhooked by Stonehouse Thoroughbreds/Bill Thomas for $40,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale. A three-quarter brother to James HB Carr Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Yattarna (Exceed And Excel) and a half-brother to the stakes-placed Fromparis Withlove (Smart Missile), Gunnamatta is the seventh winner from eight to race out of the stakes-winning Umatilla (Miswaki) mare Umaquest. Headwater moved on to the nine-mark at Hawkesbury on Thursday courtesy of a win by Mr Colorful (2 c ex Holder Sunset by Shamardal). Offered by Torryburn Stud at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Mr Colorful was purchased by George Moore Bloodstock for $100,000. Headwater then became the third first season sire this term to reach double figures in terms of individual winners when Sequana (2 f ex Leviosa by Magic Albert) scored at Mudgee on Sunday. Sequana was offered by Ambergate Farm at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale and was passed in for $17,000, but was later offered at the Magic Millions National Sale and fetched $65,000 to the bid of Australian Bloodstock. Headwater will stand for $13,750 (inc GST) in the upcoming breeding season.
Outreach – Widden Stud stallion Outreach (Exceed And Excel) registered his fifth individual winner when Azzareach (2 c ex Mini by Reset) took out a 900-metre maiden on debut at the Gold Coast on Saturday. Racing handy, the Danny Bougoure-trained Azzareach sprinted sharply, holding off The Darling (Spirit Of Boom) by a length and a quarter with a further long neck to Electric Dragon (Hidden Dragon) in third. Azzareach was purchased by her trainer for $34,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale. He is one of two winners from two to race out of Mini (Reset) who herself is a half-sister to dual Listed scorer Morvada (Mossman). Further back, this is the family of Group 1 victor Dixie Blossoms (Street Sense). Outreach, the brother to Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Overreach, will stand for $5,500 (inc GST) this year.
Double for Territories – Darley shuttler Territories (Invincible Spirit) sired his third winner when Terrible Land (2 c ex More Is To Come by War Front) scored in Milan on Wednesday. Trained by Antonio Marcialis, Terrible Land beat Capotempesta (Fulbright) with Helmwood (Helmet) finishing third. Terrible Land is the fourth foal out of the War Front (Danzig) mare More Is To Come, whose dam Ava’s Crown (Don’t Say Halo) is an unraced half-sister to Grade 3-placed dirt sprinter Apremont (Silver Deputy). Territories then sired his fourth first-crop when William Bligh (2 c ex Arbella by Primo Dominie) took out Friday’s EBF Novice Stakes (7f) at Haydock. The Ralph Beckett-trained colt defeated Rival (Iffraaj) by three and a quarter lengths with Forest Falcon (Raven’s Pass) coming home a further five lengths away in third. William Bligh was purchased at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 25,000gns before being pin hooked at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where he was purchased by his trainer for 50,000gns. He is one of five winners out of Listed scorer Arbella (Primo Dominie), making him a three-quarter brother to Listed runner-up Lat Hawill (Invincible Spirit) and a half-brother to stakes placegetter Bellajeu (Montjeu). Group 1 winner Territories stands at Darley’s Kelvinside property in the Hunter Valley for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
New Group / Grade 1 winners
Arch – The late Arch (Kris S) recorded his 14th individual Grade 1 winner on Saturday when Instilled Regard (5 h ex Enhancing by Forestry) scored an overdue top-flight win in the Manhattan Stakes (Gr 1, 10f) at Belmont. The Chad Brown-trained entire had placed three times in Grade 1 company, while he had finished fourth to Justify (Scat Daddy) in both the Santa Anita Derby (Gr 1, 9f) and the Kentucky Derby (Gr 1, 10f). He burst through between horses to defeat stablemate Rockemperor (Holy Roman Emperor) by a neck, with Sadler’s Joy (Kitten’s Joy) a half-length away in third. Purchased for US$1.05 million at Ocala in 2017 by owners OXO Equine, he has now earned US$983,240 with five wins from 18 starts. Arch died at Claiborne Farm in 2016.
Deep Impact – The late Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) sired his 47th elite level winner when Fancy Blue (3 f ex Chenchikova by Sadler’s Wells) took out the Prix de Diane (Gr 1, 2100m) at Chantilly on Sunday. Bringing up the first Group 1 win as a trainer for Donnacha O’Brien, the son of Aidan O’Brien, Fancy Blue fought gamely to win by a short-neck with Coronation Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) victor Alpine Star (Sea The Moon) in second and Irish 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Peaceful (Galileo) a further head away in third. Out of Chenchikova (Sadler’s Wells), the sister to High Chaparral, Fancy Blue herself is a half-sister to Listed winners Casterton (Fastnet Rock) and Smuggler’s Cover (Fastnet Rock). Her second dam Kasora (Darshaan) is also responsible for Group 2 scorer Black Bear Island (Sadler’s Wells) and Mora Bai (Indian Ridge), the dam of last year’s Moonee Valley Gold Cup (Gr 2, 2500m) victor Hunting Horn (Camelot). Deep Impact died at the Shadai Stallion Station in July last year, aged 17.
Galileo – Coolmore Stud’s remarkable stallion Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) made it five winners of the Epsom Derby (Gr 1, 1m 4f) and 86 Group 1 winners overall when Serpentine (3 c ex Remember When by Danehill Dancer) made all for an emphatic victory on Saturday. Under a cool-headed Emmet McNamara ride, Serpentine came home five and a half lengths clear of Khalifa Sat (Free Eagle). Amhran Na Bhfiann (Galileo), who like the winner is trained by Aidan O’Brien, was another half a length away in third. Galileo’s fee was private in 2020.
Make Believe – Ballylinch Stud resident Make Believe (Makfi) sired his maiden Group 1 winner as Mishriff (3 c ex Contradict by Raven’s Pass) took out Sunday’s Prix du Jockey Club (Gr 1, 2100m) at Chantilly. The John Gosden-trained colt defeated The Summit (Wootton Bassett) by a length and three-quarters with Poule d’Essai des Poulains (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Victor Ludorum (Shamardal) finishing a neck away in third. Out of the Listed-performed mare Contradict (Raven’s Pass), Mishriff is a half-brother to stakes scorer Orbaan (Invincible Spirit) and Group 3 placegetter Momkin (Bated Breath) while his third dam Rafha (Kris) is also responsible for popular sire Invincible Spirit (Green Desert). Dual Group 1 winner Make Believe stands at Ballylinch in Ireland for a fee of €12,000.
Master Of My Fate – Master Of My Fate (Jet Master) was another stallion to make the breakthrough at the highest level, courtesy of a win from Tempting Fate (2 c ex Miss October by Var). Trained by Dennis Drier, the colt also remains unbeaten after three races following Saturday’s victory in the Golden Horse Medallion (Gr 1, 1200m) at Scottsville in South Africa. Stablemate Pray For Rain (Soft Falling Rain) finished a length and a half away in second, with No Laying Up (What A Winter) filing third place, a further two lengths away.
Vercingetorix – A winner of elite level races in two countries himself, Vercingetorix (Silvano) became a Grade 1-winning sire on Saturday when his daughter Vernichey (2 f ex Pirate Queen by Capital Al) took out the Allan Robertson Championship (Gr 1, 1200m) at Scottsville. Already a stakes winner, the Gareth Van Zyl-trained filly stretched her unbeaten run to three when edging out Ecstatic Green (Gimmethegreenlight) by a neck with War Of Athena (Act Of War) a further half length away in third.
What A Winter – A shock win for Warrior’s Rest (What A Winter – Bardot by Badger Land) in Scottsville’s Golden Horse Sprint (Gr 1, 1200m) provided What A Winter (Western Winter) with his third individual elite-level winner. Sent off a 14-1 chance having been defeated on all six of his previous starts in stakes race, the Sean Tarry-trained five-year-upset his more fancied rivals when getting the better of Ultra Magnus (Oratorio) by a short head with Kasimir (Captain Al) filling third spot, another length and a quarter away.

Acclamation – Victory for Al Siq (2 f ex Altezza Reale by King’s Best) in Sunday’s Premio Luciano Mantovani (Listed, 1500m) in Milan provided Acclamation (Royal Applause) with his 53rd individual stakes winner. Owner Antonio Somma paid €116,000 for Al Siq at the SGA Selected Sale. The filly is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Atom Heart Mother (Rock Of Gibraltar) as well as the stakes-placed Genovese (Strategic Prince). The dam Altezza Reale (King’s Best) failed to win, but has produced another stakes performer, Altroquando (Aussie Rules). Altezza Reale has a yearling colt by Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill).
Afleet Alex – Gainesway Farm’s Afleet Alex (Afleet) added a 36th individual stakes winner to his record on Saturday when Skywire (4 c ex Meandering Stream by Gone West) took out the Eclipse Stakes (Gr 2, 8.5f) at Woodbine. Sent off at 17-1 in the field of seven, the Mark Casse-trained Skywire was well back early in the contest on the Tapeta surface. However, he came with a withering burst out wide to overhaul Avie’s Flatter (Flatter) and win by a length and a quarter, with a further two and a half lengths back to odds-on favourite Mr Ritz (Oasis Dream) in third. Afleet Alex, who has just served his 15th season at Gainesway Farm, stood for US$6,500 in 2020
Camelot – Former Coolmore shuttler Camelot (Montjeu) sired his 32nd individual stakes winner when Even So (3 f ex Breeze Hill by Danehill) took out Saturday’s Naas Oaks Trial (Listed, 1m 2f). The Ger Lyons-trained filly, who had finished fifth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas last time out, registered the second win of her five-start career when beating Laburnum (Galileo) by a neck. Silence Please (Gleneagles) was a further two and a half lengths away in third. Even So is the tenth foal out of Breeze Hill (Danehill) who herself is a half-sister to Epsom Derby winner Dr Devious (Ahonoora) as well as Rain Flower (Indian Ridge) who produced Epsom Oaks (Gr 1, 1m 4f ) victor Dancing Rain (Danehill Dancer). Further back, this is the family of Coolmore shuttler Saxon Warrior (Deep Impact) and Mackinnon Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Awesome Rock (Fastnet Rock). Camelot stood at Coolmore’s base in Ireland in 2020 for a fee of €40,000.
Treble for Dark Angel – The progressive Art Power (3 c ex Evening Time by Keltos) continued his rise through the ranks with a first stakes race victory when taking out Saturday’s Lacken Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Naas. An impressive winner in handicap company at Royal Ascot on his previous start, the Tim Easterby-trained three-year-old beat Millisle (Starspangledbanner) by two and a half lengths with Zarzyni (Siyouni) another four and a half lengths adrift in third. Art Power, who became the 61st individual stakes winner for Dark Angel (Acclamation), is the eighth foal out of the Keltos (Kendor) mare Evening Time, seven of which have won, including Group 3 scorer Penny Pepper (Fast Company). Dark Angel stood at Yeomanstown Stud in Ireland for a fee of €85,000 in 2020. Dark Angel sired a stakes double on Sunday when Gussy Mac (2 c ex Masaya by Dansili) took out the Dragon Stakes (Listed, 5f) at Sandown followed by Sonaiyla (4 f ex Sinaniya by More Than Ready) winning the Sweet Mimosa Stakes (Listed, 6f) at Cork. Purchased for £52,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale, Gussy Mac is one of five winners out of the Listed-placed mare Masaya (Dansili) who herself is a out of stakes scorer Anbella (Common Grounds). Anbella is also responsible for Macarella (Shamardal), the dam of last year’s Prix Marcel Boussac (Gr 1, 1600m) runner-up Marieta (Siyouni). Sonaiyla was purchased for €110,000 at last year’s Goffs November Mares Sale and is from the family of Listed winner Sikandarabad (Dr Fong). Dark Angel, who stood for a fee of €85,000 this year, is represented in Australia by Darley shuttler Harry Angel, who stands at the operation’s Kelvinside property for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST) in 2020.
Exceed And Excel – After five placings at Listed level, Miss Celestial (4 f ex Liber Nauticus by Azamour) finally broke through for a first Listed win in the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 7f) at Chelmsford on Saturday, becoming Exceed And Excel’s (Danehill) 174th individual stakes scorer. Sent to the lead by Luke Morris, the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Miss Celestial travelled strongly throughout, going clear to win by six lengths over dual Group 1 winner Billesdon Brook (Champs Elysees) with Farzeen (Farhh) a further three-quarters of a length back in third. Exceed And Excel will stand for $132,000 (inc GST) at Darley’s Kelvinside farm this year.
Fiorente – Sun Stud resident Fiorente (Monsun) landed his fifth individual stakes winner when Cousin Ivan (3 g ex Chong Nonsi by Blackfriars) took out the Aquanita Stakes (Listed, 2000m) at Belmont on Saturday. The Holly Taylor-trained gelding defeated Marocchino (Maschino) by half a length with Uncle Dick (Alfred Nobel) the same margin away in third. Cousin Ivan is the only foal to race out of winning mare Chong Nonsi (Blackfriars) while his third dam, Miss Trapani (Moss Trooper) is a sister to multiple stakes scorer Spring Trooper. He joins the likes of Stars Of Carrum and Hawkshot as a stakes winner over 2000 metres for 2013 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) victor Fiorente, who stands at the Victorian farm for a fee of $17,600 (inc GST) in 2020.
Galileo – The incredible Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) sired his 319th individual stakes winner when Snow (3 f ex Chelsea Rose by Desert King) built on her promising second in the Blue Wind Stakes (Gr 3, 1m 2f) with victory in Sunday’s Munster Oaks (Gr 3, 1m 4f) at Cork. The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly beat Snapraeceps (Canford Cliffs) by a length and a quarter with Loveisthehigherlaw (Kodiac) another length behind in third. Bred by Barronstown Stud, Snow was a 1.2m gns purchase by M V Magnier at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2018. She is a full-sister to the recently-retired Kew Gardens and is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed Thawaany (Tamayuz), out of the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) winner Chelsea Rose (Desert King).
Kingman – Juddmonte’s Kingman (Invincible Spirit) sired his 22nd individual stakes winner when Sinawann (3 c ex Simawa by Anabaa) justified favoritism as he made most of the running before keeping on well to land the Amethyst Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) at Leopardstown on Wednesday evening. Last seen finishing sixth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m), the Aga Khan’s homebred, who is trained by Michael Halford, beat Confidence High (Kodiac) by a length with New World Tapestry (War Front) another three-quarters of a length back in third. Sinawann is a half-brother to the Listed winner and Group 3-placed Silwana (Peintre Celebre), as well as the Group 3-placed Summaya (Azamour) and the Listed-placed Simsir (Zoffany), out of the Listed-placed Anabaa (Danzig) mare Simawa, a half-sister to the outstanding Sinndar (Grand Lodge). Kingman stood for a fee of £150,000 this year.
Lord Kanaloa – Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) saw his tally of individual stakes winners rise to 20 courtesy of a comfortable victory for Know It All (3 f ex Common Knowledge by Rainbow Quest) in the Derrinstown Stud Fillies’ Stakes on Leopardstown’s Wednesday evening card. Trained by Johnny Murtagh, she cruised to a two and a quarter length success over Celestial Object (Galileo) with Ridenza (Sea The Stars) another length and a quarter adrift when finishing third in a well stretched-out field. The winner of a Curragh maiden last summer, Know It All was registering her maiden stakes victory having twice finished third in Group 3 company. She is a half-sister to the dual Group 3 winner Astrophysical Jet (Dubawi) and the Weld Park Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) winner Coral Wave (Rock Of Gibraltar). Out of the unraced Rainbow Quest (Blushing Groom) mare Common Knowledge, a full-sister to the dam of Coronation Cup (Gr 1, 1m 4f) and Prix Royal-Oak (Gr 1, 3100m) winner Ask (Sadler’s Wells), this is the family of Highclere (Queen’s Hussar) and her daughter Height Of Fashion (Bustino). Lord Kanaloa stood for 20 million yen at Shadai Stallion Station this season.
Nakayama Festa – Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr 1, 2400m) runner-up Nakayama Festa (Stay Gold) brought up his third stakes winner when Babbitt (3 c ex Art Ryoko by Taiki Shuttle) led all the way for a big victory in Sunday’s Radio Nikkei Sho (Gr 3, 1800m) at Fukushima. Hurried to the lead by rider Hiroyuki Uchida, he was perfectly rated on the speed at steady sectionals, opening up to score by five lengths from Panthalassa (Lord Kanaloa) with Deep King (Deep Impact) third. Nakayama Festa stands at Arrow Stud.
Nathaniel – Nathaniel (Galileo) sired his 19th individual stakes winner when the Andre Fabre-trained Alkandora (3 f ex Poplin by Medicean) narrowly held on for victory in Friday’s Prix Melisande (Listed, 2100m) at Longchamp. She denied the gallant Moon A Lisa (Sea The Moon) by a nose, with Irska (Hunter’s Light) three-quarters of a length away in third. Alkandora, who races in the Godolphin blue, was purchased by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 85,000 gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2. The three-year-old is the third foal out of the winning mare Poplin, whose dam, Group 2 winner Pongee (Barathea), has produced recent Scone Cup (Listed, 1600m) winner Dr Drill (Dansili) and is a half-sister to Platonic (Zafonic), dam of Epsom Derby also ran English King (Camelot). Nathaniel stood at Newsells Park Stud for a fee of £25,000 this year.
Night Of Thunder – Former Darley shuttler Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) landed his 15th individual stakes winner, and third in Australia, when Cherry Tortoni (2 g ex Tortoni by Strategic) took out Saturday’s Taj Rossi Final (Listed, 1600m) at Flemington. Night Of Thunder stood one season in 2016 at Darley’s Northwood Park for a fee of $16,500, leaving just 58 foals. He now permanently resides at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland, covering for a fee of €25,000 in 2020, however it was announced last week that he would be available to cover mares on southern hemisphere time.
Puissance De Lune – The Lindsey Smith-trained Chantrea (3 f ex Mosse by Danzig Connection) justified her short-price favouritism when winning Saturday’s Belmont Oaks (Listed, 2000m) and in the process provided her sire Puissance De Lune (Shamardal) with his second individual stakes winner. The filly defeated Cambist (Gingerbread Man) by a length with Heaven’s Gift (Not A Single Doubt) a nose away in third. Chantrea is one of nine winners from ten to race out of Mosse (Danzig Connection) who herself is a half-sister to dual Group scorer De Lago Mist (Encosta De Lago). Further back, this is family Clear Mountain Fairview Stud stallion Wanted (Fastnet Rock). Puissance De Lune has sired one other stakes winner in Moonlight Maid, who took out last year’s Edward Manifold Stakes (Group 2, 1600m). He stands at Swettenham Stud for a fee of $18,000 (plus GST) in 2020.
Reliable Man – Westbury Stud shuttler Reliable Man (Dalakhani) sired his 13th individual stakes winner when Moonlight Man (4 c ex Moonlight Symphony by Pentire) took out the Grosser Bwin Sommer Preis (Listed, 1900m) at Dresden in Germany on Saturday. The entire is one of three winners from five to race out of Moonlight Symphony (Pentire) and hails from the family of champion sire Monsun (Königsstuhl). Moonlight Man joins the likes of Miami Bound and Kinane as a stakes winner for Reliable Man, who stands at Westbury Stud in New Zealand for a fee of $15,000 (plus GST) in 2020.
Rich Enuff – Woodside Park first season sire Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon) landed his first stakes winner when Plutocrat (2 f ex Personal Guarantee by Danzero) took out Saturday’s Tattersall’s Club Stakes (Listed, 1400m) at Eagle Farm. Rich Enuff, runner-up in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m), stood his first year at Woodside Park for a fee of $13,750 (inc GST) and covered 124 mares which resulted in 91 foals. He is the sire of six individual winners and stands for $8,800 (inc GST) in 2020.
Shonan Kampf – The late Shonan Kampf (Sakura Bakushin O) recorded his fourth stakes winner when Group 1 placegetter Love Kampf (5 m ex Love Heart by Meiner Love) scored an overdue stakes victory in Sunday’s CBC Sho (Gr 3, 1200m). Sent off at 92-1, Love Kampf led under Arata Saito and was not for catching, defeating Aonbharr (Lord Kanaloa) by a length and three quarters with Red En Ciel (Manhattan Cafe) a further two lengths away in third. Shonan Kampf died in March, aged 22.
Spirit Of Boom – The Steven O’Dea-trained Jami Lady (4 m ex Bevico Girl by Easy Rocking) took out Saturday’s Bright Shadow Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Eagle Farm and in the process, provided her sire Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) with his 12th individual stakes winner. The mare defeated Chris Waller’s Fiesta (I Am Invincible) by two and a quarter lengths with Pennino (Easy Rocking) another neck away in third. Jami Lady was passed in for $45,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale when offered in the Roona Lodge draft. She is the only foal to race out of four-time winner Bevico Girl (Easy Rocking), while her fourth dam is Group 1 scorer Hasty Departure (Red Anchor). Jami Lady joins the likes of Boomsara and Outback Barbie as a stakes winner for Eureka Stud resident Spirit Of Boom who will stand for a fee of $44,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
Twilight Son – Cheveley Park’s Twilight Son (Kyllachy) sired his first stakes winner when Aria Importante (2 f ex Aria Di Festa by Orpen) took out Sunday’s Premio Primi Passi (Gr 3, 1200m) in Milan. Bruno Grizzetti’s filly has provided all of Twilight Son’s three wins so far, streaking through two minor Italian races previously. Receiving 3lb from colts, she was an odds-on favourite and dominated at the head of affairs, coming home a length and a quarter clear under a confident Carlo Fiocchi. Twilight Son, the lightly-raced dual Group 1-winning sprinter, covered 220 mares in his first two books and stood for an adjusted £7,000 fee this year.
Uncle Mo – Former Coolmore shuttler Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) brought up his 57th individual stakes winner on Saturday when Uncle Chuck (3 c ex Forest Music by Unbridled’s Song) made the leap from a maiden to a Grade 3 with ease and took out the Los Alamitos Derby (Gr 3, 9f). Sent off an odds-on favourite against just three rivals, the Bob Baffert-trained Uncle Chuck did it comfortably, defeating stablemate Thousand Words (Pioneerof The Nile) by four lengths with a further seven lengths to Cosmo (Distorted Humor) in third. Baffert said that Uncle Chuck may be bound for the Kentucky Derby (Gr 1, 10f) in September should he continue to progress. Uncle Mo stood for US$125,000 at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud this year.
Wootton Bassett – Dream Works (3 c ex Sablonniere by Verglas) defeated three rivals in winning the Prix Ridgway (Listed, 2000m) at Longchamp on Thursday to become the 12th individual stakes winner for his sire Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj) and in the process took his own record to two wins from three starts. Double for Zoffany – Former Coolmore shuttler Zoffany (Dansili) landed his 34th individual stakes winner when Mother Earth (2 f ex Many Colours by Green Desert) took out the Fillies’ Sprint Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Naas on Saturday. The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly defeated Sussex Garden (Acclamation) by four lengths with Give Her A Squeeze (Kodiac) coming home a further two and a half lengths away in third. Purchased by M V Magnier for €150,000 at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale, Mother Earth, who finished third in the Albany Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Royal Ascot on her previous start, is out of Listed winner Many Colours (Green Desert) making her a half-sister to Group 2 scorer Night Colours (Night Of Thunder). Further back, this is the family of Ballyhane Stud resident Dandy Man (Mozart). Zoffany (Dansili) the sired his 35th individual stakes winner when Minaun (2 f ex Bee Eater by Green Desert) took out Sunday’s Marble Hill Stakes (Gr 3, 6f) at Cork. The Henry de Bromhead-trained filly defeated Arctician (Dark Angel) by a neck with Military Style (War Front) coming home a further three-quarters of a length away in third. Purchased for €8,000 at the Goffs Sportsmans Yearling Sale, Minaun is one of five winners from eight to race out of the Listed-placed mare Bee Eater (Green Desert). Her second dam Littlefeather (Indian Ridge) was third in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, while her third dam is multiple Group 1 winner Marwell (Habitat) who also produced four-time elite level scorer Marling (Lomond). Zoffany shuttled to Coolmore Australia for four seasons and covered 459 mares which resulted in 314 foals. He now permanently resides at Coolmore’s Ireland base, standing for €22,500 in 2020.
