I Am Famous
TRAINER: Chris Waller
RACE: Inglis Race Series Closing Handicap (1400m)
A capacity field of 14 will line up in the two-year-old handicap at Randwick today as juveniles bid to make a last dash to add to their race records before turning three next month.
Among those horses aiming to get off the mark in their careers is the well-related and high-priced I Am Famous, a filly by champion sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) and a half-sister to Everest (1200m) hero Classique Legend (Not A Single Doubt).
The only grey among I Am Invincible’s 2020 crop of 146 foals, I Am Famous is the fifth foal out of Pinocchio (Encosta De Lago), who has also produced the Group 2 winner Aethero (Sebring).
I Am Famous was a $2 million purchase for The Yellow Brick Road Company and Mitchell Bloodstock from the Tyreel Stud draft at last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
The Chris Waller-trained filly began her career with a third-placed finish at Warwick Farm over 1200 metres last month, finishing three lengths behind Taormina (Written Tycoon). She is a $6.50 chance to salute in today’s 1400-metre contest, and will be ridden by Dylan Gibbons from barrier seven.
Pinocchio, herself a sister to five-time Group 1 winner Racing To Win, has a rising two-year-old filly named Candlewick (Pierro), and is due to foal to I Am Invincible this spring.
