Snitzel filly tops Inglis Digital March (Late) Online Sale
Last-start winner Washington Lilac (Snitzel) topped the Inglis Digital March (Late) Online Sale, selling to Silverdale Farm for $172,500.
Offered by TFI, Washington Lilac is a three-quarter sister to Group 1 winner Qafila (Not A Single Doubt), making her a valuable breeding prospect when her racing days are over.
Silverdale’s Rob Petith confirmed Washington Lilac would continue racing and remain with the Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman stable.
“She’s a beautiful filly with a beautiful page, she’s by Snitzel and the family has been well bred up so there’s plenty of fallback options there with her,’’ Petith said.
“We know the family well, she’s obviously a three-quarter to a Group 1 winner so when the time comes to breeding with her we’re confident she’ll make a beautiful broodmare.’’
The sale’s second-top lot was four-year-old Polyglot (Lonhro), who sold to Darby Racing for $155,000. He will remain in the Michael Freedman stable.
Polyglot was part of a 15-strong Godolphin draft which grossed $447,750, much to the delight of racing and bloodstock manager Jason Walsh.
“We met the market at every level and there were some really good results in there overall and some good opportunities for the new purchasers to enjoy a lot of success,’’ Walsh said.
“It’s a great insight into the platform and the business that can be done on Inglis Digital and we’re really happy with today’s outcomes.’’
On Polyglot, Walsh added: “He’s been a really good horse to us for a number of seasons, he’ll stay in the same stable for his new ownership group and we wish them all the best with him.’’
Other lots of significance today included Newfoundland (Deep Impact) – who sold to Shane Jackson for $110,000 – Wentworth Falls (Too Darn Hot) ($105,000) and Buckeye (Zousain) ($100,000).
In total the March (Late) Sale grossed $3,257,000. Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital April (Early) Sale and will remain so for the next fortnight until midnight on Wednesday, April 8. The sale will run from April 10-15. To enter click here.
