Blue Gum announce acquisition of Libertad and Coleman

Blue Gum Farm has announced the addition of two stallions for the 2026 breeding season, with Group 1-winning sprinter Libertad (Russian Revolution) and Group-winning juvenile Coleman (Pierata) joining the roster.

Libertad will stand at $9,900 (inc GST), while Coleman will stand at $7,700 (inc GST), presenting breeders with value and access to two highly credentialled young stallions.

Among the ownership groups behind both horses are Jason and Melanie Stenning of Trilogy Racing and Blue Gum Farm, who are delighted to welcome the pair to the historic Euroa nursery.

“We are extremely proud to stand the first Group 1 winner to race in our silks. Securing Libertad, despite strong competition, marks a significant win for the farm as we continue to strengthen an already respected and successful stallion roster,” Blue Gum Farm’s Jason Stenning said.

An undefeated Group winner at two, Libertad displayed high-level precocity before developing into one of Australia’s most durable and consistent Group-race sprinters, with the five-year-old’s biggest win coming most recently in November’s Winterbottom Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).

“He demonstrated class, consistency and longevity throughout his career. He won Group races at two, three, four and five. To my knowledge, the only other stallion in the modern era to achieve that feat is Lonhro,” Stenning said.

Meanwhile, Coleman brings explosive speed and precocious talent to the roster including Group 3 and Listed contests.

“Coleman’s two-year-old form speaks for itself, and above all, he is an outstanding physical specimen,” Stenning said.

“Our industry is built on speed, and he was an exceptionally fast horse. He broke the class record when winning the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield and was only narrowly beaten in the second-fastest Golden Slipper this decade.

“It takes a very good horse to consistently produce the times he did.”

Libertad represents the flourishing Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) branch of the Redoute’s Choice/Danehill (Danzig) sire line and descends from a proven, high-performing family. Coleman, the first stakes winner for emerging sire Pierata (Pierro), offers further pedigree depth through influential stallion Canny Lad (Bletchingly) and a family rich in Group 1 success.

“At Blue Gum Farm, we strive to provide breeding solutions for every level of the industry. We deliver blue-chip opportunities for commercial breeders while also supporting grassroots participants in their pursuit of breeding a winner,” Stenning added.
