A half-sister to 2013 Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Miracles Of Life (Not A Single Doubt), the Lindsay Park-trained Angel created quite an impression with a promising win on her debut at Geelong yesterday.
She began well from barrier seven under Mark Zahra in the eight-runner field over 1118 metres, and she had to work a bit in the early stages before settling nicely outside the leader Riverina Dancer (Kaphero).
She challenged strongly on straightening for home, moved to the front at the 200 metres and then went on to score quite comfortably by a length and three quarters, despite showing signs of greenness.
A $1,200,000 purchase at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale 12 months ago, Angel is one of four named foals out of the unraced More Than Ready (Southern Halo) mare Dazzling Gazelle.
Her half-sister Miracles Of Life won two Group Ones and three Group Twos during a stellar career, while her second dam Snippets’ Jewel (Snippets) has produced six winners from eight foals to race.
Her stakes-placed third dam Jewel Of Oakbank (Alzao) is a half-sister to Group Two winner Exclusive Halo (Don’t Say Halo) and Group Three winner Miss Jugah (Jugah), while this is also the same family as New Zealand Group Two winner Sumstreetsumwhere (Highly Recommended).
Her sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) has 30 yearlings catalogued for next week’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
