Blue Point and Too Darn Hot handed northern hemisphere fee hikes

After break-out first seasons with their runners on the track in Europe, Darley shuttlers Blue Point (Shamardal) and Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) will stand for increased fees for the 2024 northern hemisphere breeding season. 

Too Darn Hot, who is serving his fourth book of mares at Darley’s Kelvinside base, will stand for an increased fee of £65,000 (approx. AU$123,200) up from £40,000. The son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) has sired 24 winners from 65 starters and they are headed by four stakes winners, including Group 1 scorer Fallen Angel. 

Meanwhile, Blue Point, who is standing at Darley’s Northwood Park base in Victoria, and he will command a fee of €60,000 (approx. AU$99,100), having stood the 2023 season for a fee of €35,000. The fee hike comes in response to the stallion’s phenomenal start at stud which has seen him sire 41 winners from 110 starts, headed by five stakes winners including Group 1 scorer Rosallion. 

The stallion could be provided his second elite-level winner, with his Group 2-winning son Big Evs set to line up in Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (Gr 1, 5f) at Santa Anita. 

Meanwhile, Darley kingpin Dubawi will stand at an unchanged mark of £350,000 (approx. AU$663,900) and he will be joined by his multiple top-flight winner Modern Games, who will cover his first book of mares at a fee of £30,000 (approx. AU$56,900). The other new member of the Dalham Hall roster this year is this season’s Queen Anne Stakes (Gr 1, 1m) winner Triple Time (Frankel), who enters the breeding barn at a fee of £10,000 (approx. AU$18,900). 

Palace Pier (Kingman) will be offered at £45,000 (approx. AU$85,300), a slight drop for the £50,000 he stood last year, while shuttler Pinatubo (Shamardal) will command an unchanged fee of £35,000 (approx. AU$66,400). Cracksman (Frankel), has been kept at £17,500 (approx. AU$33,100) after producing the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Ace Impact. 

Farhh (Pivotal) remains at a private fee while shuttler Harry Angel (Dark Angel), Iffraaj (Zafonic), Masar (New Approach), Perfect Power (Ardad) and Territories (Invincible Spirit) are all at a fee of £10,000 (approx. AU$18,900). 

Kildangan Stud receives the champion juvenile and Irish 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) winner Native Trail (Oasis Dream), who will begin at a fee of €17,500 (AU$33,200). Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) is at an unchanged fee of €100,000 (approx. AU$165,200), while Teofilo (Galileo), sire of this year’s Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Without A Fight, will stand for €30,000 (approx. AU$49,500). 

Northwood Park shuttler Ghaiyyath (Dubawi), will stand a third consecutive year at a fee of €25,000 (approx. AU$41,300), while fellow shuttler Earthlight (Shamaral) will be offered to breeders for an unchanged fee of €15,000 (approx. AU$24,800). 

Sam Bullard, Darley’s director of stallions, said: “The young stallions on the roster are our future and they continue to make compelling viewing. With the two most successful freshmen in 2023, it is exciting to have Pinatubo, Ghaiyyath and Earthlight with two-year-olds next year, we are so lucky to be standing these horses.”

Space Blues (Dubawi) will command a fee of €16,000 (approx. AU$26,400) and Naval Crown (Dubawi) and Raven’s Pass will be offered at €10,000 (approx. AU$16,500) and €7,500 (approx. AU$12,387) respectively.

The French branch at Haras du Logis offers Victor Ludorum (Shamardal), currently residing at Kelvinside, and he will stand the 2024 northern hemisphere season at a fee of €15,000 (approx. AU$24,700), while Cloth Of Stars (Sea The Stars) has had his fee trimmed to €5,000 (approx. AU$8,200).
