Empire Of Japan to stand at Hopetoun Farm

Hopetoun Farm have announced they will be standing Group 3 winner Empire Of Japan (Snitzel) for the 2024 breeding season.

The son of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) made an instant impact for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden when landing the Breeders’ Plate (Gr 3, 1000m) on his debut in October, 2022, but failed to score in a further six starts, ending his career with a fourth placing in the Spirit Of Boom Classic (Gr 2, 1200m) in May last year.

A fee will be released by the farm later in the week.

“We are very excited to announce Empire Of Japan will stand his first season at Hopetoun Farm this upcoming breeding season,” a Facebook post from Hopetoun Farm read.

“This is very exciting for Hopetoun Farm and a great opportunity for Queensland breeders, to have a stallion with such a fantastic pedigree and with such elite two-year-old speed at their fingertips for the 2024 breeding season.

“Empire Of Japan won the stallion making breeders plate by a whopping 3 lengths. Past winners of this stallion-making race include Capitalist, Pierro, Sebring, Snitzel, Choisir, and Luskin Star. By the great sire Snitzel, out of group 2 winning General Nediym mare, Ichihara. He is a 680k yearling and an amazing type.

“We will announce his service fee later this week but can confirm he will be affordable to all Queensland breeders. We will be offering a limited amount of lifetime breeding rights. We think this horse is just perfect for Queensland.”
