The Michael Freedman-trained Frolic opened her account at the third attempt in the $250,000 Inglis Classic (RL, 1200m) at Monday’s rescheduled Randwick fixture.
The filly, who had finished second at her first two starts, showed impressive acceleration to swoop from the rear of the field to beat Sweet Deal (Casino Prince) by a length and a quarter, with the pair pulling a further five and a half lengths clear of Lets Get Nauti Girl (Harbour Watch) in third.
Frolic is one of six named foals out of the Group Three-winning mare Leveller (Redoute’s Choice), herself a half-sister to the winning dam of the Group Three winner I’m Your Venus (Show A Heart), making her a half-sister to one winner.
Her third dam is the dual Group Two winner Startling Lass (Luskin Star), while this is also the same family as the stakes-winning and Group One-placed Shovhog (Danehill), the Listed winner Shovoff (Danehill) and the Group Three winner Spurtonic (Flying Spur).
