The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Fully Lit (Hellbent) produced a stellar debut effort at Rosehill last Saturday, taking out a big-field 1100-metre contest with the minimum of fuss.

Having shown plenty of prior promise with a pair of runner-up efforts in trials at Randwick and Rosehill, the colt was sent off a $5.50 chance for his debut and dominated, leading all the way under Regan Bayliss to beat King Of Roseau (Capitalist) by two and three-quarter lengths.

“He’s a lovely horse and very precocious,” Bayliss said. “He handled himself so well and the further he went the stronger he was.”

A $60,000 purchase for Red Fox Racing from the Glenlogan Park draft at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Fully Lit is a half-brother to last season’s BJ McLachlan Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winner The Novelist (Written By), who is also trained by Waterhouse and Bott.

“He’s looked very sharp and was nice and forward for today,” Bott said of Fully Lit.

“He’s shown plenty of potential so it’s good to see that level of ability stack up on raceday. He’s a nice type that will keep improving and being an Inglissold horse we’ll look towards the Inglis Millennium with him.”

Bred and sold by Glenlogan Park, Fully Lit is the second winner from as many foals to come out of the metro-winning Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) mare Sunlit, herself a half-sister to Group 2 scorer Vo Heart (Show A Heart) from the family of dual Group 1 winner Magical Miss (Danehill).

Glenlogan Park will offer the yearling filly by North Pacific (Brazen Beau) from Sunlit at Inglis Classic as Lot 750 and the mare is now in foal to Zoustar (Northern Meteor) after missing to Spirit of Boom (Sequalo).
