Graff to stand at Eureka Stud
In a welcome addition to the Queensland breeding ranks, Graff (Star Witness) will relocate to Eureka Stud for the 2026 breeding season.
The sire of boom three-year-old sprinter Grafterburners, already a six-time winner and earner of more than $2.1 million, Graff has made an exciting start to stud from limited numbers, with his progeny also including two-year-old stakes performer Royal Chic.
Graff was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile before returning at three to win the San Domenico Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) and place in the Run To The Rose (Gr 2, 1200m) and Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m), the latter behind The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice).
He then lined up in The Everest (1200m), finishing fifth to Redzel (Snitzel), before running fourth, beaten less than a length, in the Lightning Stakes (Gr 1, 1000m) behind In Her Time (Time Thief), and fourth again in the Newmarket Handicap (Gr 1, 1200m), beaten a length by Sunlight (Zoustar). After competing consistently in elite sprinting company, Graff took out the Caulfield Sprint (Gr 2, 1000m) before retiring to stud as the winner of four races and more than $1.35 million in prize-money.
With his first crops now showing the same precocity and toughness he displayed on the track, Graff presents as a proven sire option with genuine upside for breeders. He also shapes as an appealing Hong Kong prospect, with 20 per cent of his raced colts and geldings having been acquired by Hong Kong interests and sent to trainers including John Size, James Cummings, Brett Crawford and Chris So. A producer of attractive physical types, Graff had multiple yearlings sell for more than $100,000 this year and also boasts an impressive fertility profile.
“We are delighted to have secured an interest in Graff to stand him in partnership with Australian Bloodstock,” Eureka Stud’s Angus McAlpine said. “They are firm believers in the immense ability and toughness he had as a racehorse and are bullish to support him after seeing these qualities passed on to his progeny.”
Standing for a fee of $9,900 inc GST, payable on live foal, Graff brings a proven and affordable QTIS sire option to Queensland breeders.
