Hello Youmzain youngsters star at Arqana

The Arqana buying bench took a healthy shine to the progeny of Cambridge Stud’s young shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain (Kodiac) at the August Yearling Sale at Deauville.

The two-time Group 1 winner’s youngsters were keenly sought after with 20 through the ring and 19 sold for €2,447,000 (approx. NZ$4.5 million) at an average of €128,789 (approx. NZ$236,200), with a top price of €300,000 (approx. NZ$550,220).

Belmont Bloodstock’s Damon Gabbedy was at the sale in his capacity as Arqana’s Australian and New Zealand representative and he was among the admirers of Hello Youmzain’s stock.

“I was really taken by the Hello Youmzain yearlings I saw at Arqana. They all walk the house down and seem to have great attitudes,” Gabbedy said.

“You can really see the Danehill in them and they look ideal for our Australian and New Zealand racing conditions.”

The prize lot was offered by Haras d’Etreham, Hello Youmzain’s northern hemisphere home in France, and was knocked down to Newmarket-based bloodstock agent Oliver St Lawrence.

The filly is a daughter of the Group-performed mare Interesting (Raven’s Pass), whose four winners include the dual Listed winner Fast Raaj (Iffraaj) and Almanzor’s (Wootton Bassett) sons Le Boss, who has been stakes placed, and Almanfata.

A daughter of Hello Youmzain offered by Coulonces was another popular youngster and realised €220,000 (approx. NZ$403,575) to the bid of SARL Bloodstock.
