Hezdarnhottoo, a son of Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (Dubawi), broke his maiden at the second attempt when scoring in a 1100-metre maiden at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

Trained by Bjorn Baker and ridden by Tommy Berry, the colt defeated Imperial Force (Snitzel) by 1.7 lengths, with Smashing Time (Brave Smash) another 0.6 lengths away in third.

“He’s a lovely colt, a bit raw; he jumped in the air at the start the other day. To Tommy’s credit he didn’t drive him mad, let him find his feet and he worked to the line well,” Baker’s stable representative Luke Hilton said.

“He jumped well today, and Tommy took the race by the scruff of the neck.

“He had a nice colt with wraps on it behind him today.”

Bred by Lib and Katrina Petagna’s JML Bloodstock, the colt was purchased by his trainer and Clarke Bloodstock for $170,000 from the Elsdon Park draft at the 2023 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale.

Hezdarnhottoo is out of the Listed-placed mare Rosa Carolina (Savabeel), who is herself a daughter of Listed winner Ombre Rose (O’Reilly), who was also placed at Group 1 level.

In winning Wednesday’s contest, Hezdarnhottoo became the fifth southern-hemisphere bred winner for Too Darn Hot.

The stallion has sired 39 winners globally and his northern hemisphere-bred progeny are headed by five stakes winners, including Group 1 scorer Fallen Angel.

The son of Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) is standing at Dalham Hall for a fee of £65,000 (approx. AU$125,900).
