High Emocean to be sold at Chairman’s Sale

The 2022 Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) third High Emocean (Ocean Park) will be sold at May’s Inglis Chairman’s Sale after being retired from racing.

Trained by Ciaron Maher, the seven-year-old daughter of Ocean Park (Thorn Park) was most recently seen running last of 13 runners in the Geelong Cup (Gr 3, 2400m) on October 25.

High Emocean was purchased by agent John Foote and Darren Weir Racing for $80,000 at the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale in Karaka, and she would go on to win seven races and more than $1.2 million in prize-money during her 30-start career.

Alongside her Melbourne Cup placing, her record includes wins in the R.M. Ansett Classic (Listed, 2415m) and 2022 Bendigo Cup (Gr 3, 2400m), the latter being the mare’s most recent success.

Out of the unraced High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells) mare High Joy, High Emocean is a half-sister to Listed winner Elate (Savabeel) and hails from the same family as stakes scorer Emperor Bonaparte (Montjeu) and multiple Group 1-winning champion Bonecrusher (Pag-Asa).

High Emocean joins dual Group 1-winning mare She’s Extreme (Extreme Choice) as confirmed highlight lots for the Chairman’s Sale.
