Invincible Star made a most impressive winning debut in taking out the Ottawa Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day. Ridden by Joao Moreira from barrier 13 in the 16-horse field, Invincible Star showed good pace to lead the group on the Grandstand side. She then took a clear advantage with 100 metres left to run before going on to score decisively by two and a quarter lengths and in smart time of 58.37 seconds.

Invincible Star is out of Romany Flyer (Catbird), a winner over 1200 metres and a half-sister to the Group Three winner Viking hero (Elvstroem) and the stakes-placed Mabsam (Stratum) being out of the placed Gypsy Dollar (Zabeel). Invincible Star’s third dam is the unraced Queen Gypsy (Planet Kingdom), the dam of four winners headed by the dual Group One winner Innocent King (Tolomeo). This is also the family of the Flight Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Unearthly (Zabeel) and her Group One-winning daughter Invest (Dehere).

Invincible Star becomes the first stakes winner and fourth winner from as many named foals for her dam Romany Flyer who also has a yearling sister to Invincible Star and foaled a filly by Zoffany (Dansili) this season.
