Khan (AUS)

Khan created a very good impression in winning on debut in the Breeders’ Plate (Listed, 1000m). Away from barrier one under Blake Shinn, he settled in fifth place on the rails and was still conceding the leader a significant start when he got into the clear with 200 metres left to run. Khan then came with a strong finishing run to win quite impressively, scoring by a length and a quarter.

Khan is the third foal and first winner out of his unraced dam Mandawara (Daylami) who is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winner Manighar (Linamix) and the Group winner Minatlya (Linamix) being out of the stakes-placed Mintly Fresh (Rubiano). Mandawara has a filly by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) and then missed to Dissident (Sebring) and Rothesay (Fastnet Rock) last season. She has recently been scanned in foal to Vancouver (Medaglia d’Oro).
