Madame Pommery to be sold at Magic Millions

Group 1 winner Madame Pommery (No Nay Never) is the latest star added to next month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale catalogue.

The four-year-old daughter of No Nay Never (Scat Daddy), who was a brilliant winner of the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) at Caulfield, will be offered as part of a quality Chris Waller Racing draft.

A winner at Rosehill as a two-year-old by over three lengths, Madame Pommery spent most of her racetrack career racing against the best in the country defeating Group 1 winners including Fireburn (Rebel Dane), Sheeza Belter (Gold Standard), Kovalica (Ocean Park), Skew Wiff (Savabeel), Startantes (Star Turn), Going Global (Mehmas) and She’s Licketysplit (Turn Me Loose).

As well as her juvenile win at Rosehill and triumph in the Thousand Guineas, the quality mare finished a neck behind subsequent Group 1 winner Zougotcha (Zoustar) in the Tea Rose Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m).

Waller, who in conjunction with Guy Mulcaster and Sophie Baker purchased the filly for an all female ownership group for $150,000 from the Coolmore draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, predicted a bright future ahead at stud for Madame Pommery.

“She’s a nice strong mare who was always straight forward to train,” Waller said. “She has a great temperament and she always coped well in training. Madame Pommery was good enough to win at two. She always raced against good opposition and is a Group 1 winner.

“As well as her good looks, great strength and impressive race record she is by an international stallion and possesses a great pedigree.”

Madame Pommery is out of the dual-winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Cancel, who is herself a sister to Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Earthquake. Cancel also counts stakes-scoring duo Pandemic (Sepoy) and Palomares (Commands) among her half-siblings.

The mare is the latest addition to the catalogue and comes hot off the heels of previously announced high profile entries including Atishu (Savabeel), Chain of Lightning (Fighting Sun), Platinum Jubilee (Zoustar) and Belclare (Per Incanto) who headline over 160 black-type fillies and mares nominated. The broodmare section of the National sale begins it’s three-day run on May 28.

“Prospective buyers will be impressed with the quality of stock catalogued for the 2024 National Broodmare Sale,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said. “There will be incredible opportunities at all levels of the market – as there always is.”

The online catalogue for the sale is set to be live in the coming days.
