Magic Millions Online July Sale topped by progressive Short Stories

The Magic Millions Online July Sale concluded yesterday and it was headlined by Short Stories (Shamus Award) who sold for $120,000 to Shawn Ricardo Bloodstock.

Offered as Lot 4 by Clarken Racing, the progressive three-year-old was sold with an entry this weekend in the metropolitan meeting at Gawler.

He broke his maiden two starts ago in good style after overcoming an awkward draw at Morphettville over 1300 metres and then ran a good second in a BenchMark 68 over 1200 metres at the same track, finishing three-quarters of a length behind Winning Weather (Night Of Thunder) who boasts a win over stakes scorer All Banter (I’m All The Talk).

Short Stories is out of the winning Show A Heart (Brave Warrior) mare Ravaged Heart, while his second dam is the Listed winner Devil Inside (Langfuhr).

Elsewhere, Hastings Bloodstock signed $97,500 for the second top lot Mafaaheem (Astern), who was offered as Lot 1 as part of the dispersal of the late Shadwell owner Sheikh Hamdan’s Australian Stable from Lindsay Park. The gelded two-year-old, by Darley  first season sire Astern (Medaglia D’Oro), trialled at Tatura on June 16 where he was fourth over 850 metres on a Heavy 8 surface, around five lengths behind Geelong (1330m) maiden runner-up Tern And Go (Astern).

He is out of the winning mare Maraaseem (Redoute’s Choice) who is a daughter of Listed scorer Warm Smytzer (Zabeel).

Hastings Bloodstock also collected the unraced Khaadem (Nicconi), Lot 14, for 32,000gns from the dispersal.

A share in stallion Fierce Impact (Deep Impact) realised $70,000 to Carlton Traders Syndicate. The share entitles two service rights for the first three seasons and one right each year thereafter to the Champion Miler who stands at Leneva Park.

Trade was positive for the sale and Yarradale Stud tweeted: “Positive day selling with

@mmsnippets on their July online sale. 100 per cent clearance – seven lots offered, all seven sold! Wishing all the new owners the best of luck going forward with their purchases.”
