Molto Allegro tops Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale

Brae Sokolski secured the top lot at the Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale on Wednesday, paying $300,000 for proven broodmare Molto Allegro (Fast ‘N’ Famous), who was offered as part of the Oakland Park Unreserved Reduction in foal to doom Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (Dubawi).

Sokolski also purchased another proven broodmare in the shape of Aliberani (Redoute’s Choice) – also from the Oakland Park reduction – for $90,000. She was sold carrying a foal by fellow Darley shuttler Blue Point (Shamardal) and, like Molto Allegro, was bought in partnership with Damian Degenhardt.

“I love these established, proven broodmares and mares of their calibre who have had exceptional producing track records don’t get sold that often so I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see them online with Inglis Digital and I was more than happy to secure them,’’ Sokolski said.

“They come from a great farm, they’ve been very well looked after and both have great pregnancies. Too Darn Hot is arguably the hottest young stallion in the country and I’ve got a lot of time for Blue Point and I think he’ll prove himself particularly as his first crop race as three-year-olds.’’

Molto Allegro is out of Listed winner Jestatune (Rory’s Jester), making her a half-sister to Group 3 winner and now stallion Jukebox (Snitzel). The mare has produced two winners to date, headed by Perth Listed winner Beethoven (Helmet).

Aliberani, a four-time winning daughter of Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), has produced four foals to race, all of them winners, including the stakes-placed Light Up The Room (So You Think).

Sokolski said both mares would be transported to Yarraman Park in the Hunter Valley to be foaled down before any decisions were made on new matings and whether the foals were retained or sold.

The second-top lot was Ihts Closing Inn (Sessions), who hails from the same family as  Molto Allegro and she was bought by Nova Bloodstock for $180,000.

The Dan O’Sullivan Racing-offered Uniquely (Toronado), which sold to Supreme Racing for $170,000, was the third most expensive offering, while the fourth-top lot was the American-bred mare Outsider Art (Five Star Day) – in foal to Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt) – which sold to Victorian buyer Eddie Temple for $150,000.

In total, seven horses realised $100,000 or more in the April (Late) Sale, which grossed $5,257,450. Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale, which will run from May 10-15. Entries close at midnight on Wednesday May 8. To enter click here.
