After placings in two of his first four starts, the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Niccolance scored a promising first up win at Rosehill on Wednesday. The colt jumped well from barrier eight in the nine-horse field under Blake Shinn and he then crossed and went straight to the front. Travelling well, Niccolance grabbed a break at the 200 metres and then went on to score an impressive two length victory. He sprinted home in a quick 33.41 seconds for his last 600 metres.

Niccolance is out of the two-time winning mare Nonchalance (Lonhro). His second dam is the winning mare Insouciance (Quest For Fame) who produced eight winners from as many foals to race headed by the Spring Champion Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Complacent (Authorized) as well as the stakes-placed Offhanded (Lonhro) and Careless (Exceed And Excel). Further back this is the family of Wandjina (Snitzel).

Niccolance is the third foal out of his dam who produced a now two-year-old filly by Helmet (Exceed And Excel), her last foal, before the mare died in November last year.
