Maiden Of The Week

Overshare (AUS)

After finishing fourth in the Blue Diamond Preview (Listed, 1000m) and fifth in the Blue Diamond Prelude (Gr 3, 1100m) at Caulfield earlier in the year at his only two prior starts, Overshare resumed with a good first up win this preparation.

He broke well from barrier five under Tommy Berry, showing good early pace. After crossing to the lead, he raced a bit keenly in stages throughout the race. However when the field entered the straight, the colt never looked in any danger and eventually went on to win by a head, with plenty in hand, in a time of 1:06.35.

Overshare is out the three-time winning and stakes-placed mare Savannah’s Choice (Redoute’s Choice), and of her two foals to race, he is her only winner.

Savannah’s Choice herself is out of the Group Three-winning mare Kirov Premiere (Sadler’s Wells), making her a half-sister to the Grade One winner Cesario (Special Week), who is the dam of Japan Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Epiphaneia (Symboli Kris S) and Group One winner Leontes (King Kamehameha), who was crowned Champion 2YO Colt in Japan in 2015.

Further back is from the same family as dual Group One winners Fascinating Rock (Fastnet Rock) and Anna Pavlova (Danehill Dancer), Group Two winner Gothenberg (Polish Patriot) and Listed winners Quintillion (Rusticaro), Theatre Critic (Sadler’s Wells) and Quiz Evolution (Mujahid).

In 2015 Savannah’s Choice foaled a colt by Dundeel (High Chaparral), named No Compliments, and she was not served that year. Her last recorded service date was by More Than Ready (Southern Halo) on 7 September 2016.
